Cam betrays Nixie with the trident. He goes to mako island to become a merman so he can rule mako. As he falls into the moon pool, the mermaids come from under water and hold him up with their moon rings. Just before he falls in Zac jumps out and throws the trident out of his hands and the trident breaks. Cam falls into the moon pool just as the moon cycle finishes and he doesnt get a tail. Zac doesnt get his powers taken away. So the pod do not return yet. Rita presents the girls with their moon rings. Zac is now free to swim as a merman as the trident was destroyed.
